How we use personal data

We keep a record of your name, address, email address, mobile phone number and which SideWalks Texttrails you have done. We retain and process this personal data on our servers, in the Netherlands, for legitimate interests, which are:

• to have a means of contacting you about your booking, to confirm payment and to deal with any other questions or issues arising from it, or to help you complete you complete a booking.
• to contact you and other team members about your experience of booking and doing our Texttrails, to gain feedback, reviews or resolve any problem you might encounter or query you might have before, during or after doing a Texttrail.
• to share your data with our technology partners only to the extent necessary for the proper functioning of their technology systems and services they provide for SideWalks. Your data is protected from further use or disclosure by safeguarding agreements we have with those partners. Our payment processes involve the transfer of data to the USA by the payment provider which is not retained by SideWalks.
• to enable us to understand customer choices and preferences in aggregate so that we can improve our Texttrails, develop and extend the range of experiences we offer and market them more effectively to potential and repeat customers.

We also retain and process personal data on our servers in the Netherlands by consent:

• to enable you, should you wish, to create an account storing your personal and payment details to ease the checkout process for future purchases on our site.
• to enable you, should you wish, to join our mailing list so that we can contact you with details of special offers, to announce new Texttrails or encourage you to try one or more of our Texttrails. You can opt out of this at any time.
• to enable us to remind you, should you ask, which of our Texttrails you have not yet tried.
• so that we can publish any review you give us (potentially including all or part of your name but never your contact details).

We will remove any personal data that we hold about you if you ask us to do so. Our policy is to retain data indefinitely, unless you ask us to remove it.

We will tell you, upon request, what, if any, personal data we hold about you. We will provide you on request with a copy of the information we hold about you, but reserve the right to make a small charge for this service.

We will correct or remove any information we hold about you that you that is not accurate or up to date.

We will remove and stop processing your data if you ask us to. We will, however retain minimal personal data, such as your name, email address and request to remove your data so that we can monitor the effectiveness of our handling of GDPR requests and identify spurious or repetitive requests, potential cyber-attacks and fraud.

Accessing our website will result in cookies (small text files) being placed on your computer or device to track visitor use and compile statistical reports on website activity. You can set your browser not to accept cookies, and remove them from your browser, but some website features may not operate without them.
